Hello Patriots,

This past week we welcomed our students back to school. We had successful class meetings with our students, and we also enjoyed our first pop-up pep rally Friday during lunch. Unfortunately events in the community do interfere with the operations of our school from time to time, and in an abundance of caution for our faculty and students, we went into lock down at dismissal on Friday. I am very proud of the way our students responded, and we were able to safely secure our campus and account for the safety of faculty and students in a matter of minutes. What a great example of Patriot PRIDE! Safety of our students, faculty, and school is our number one priority.

We are giving students the first few weeks to learn where their classes are located and the best way to get from class to class. Starting in two weeks we will begin to implement our new tardy plan. Tardy students will be locked out of class, and they will report to a tardy station to get a pass and a discipline consequence for that tardy. It's important that all students are in class from bell to bell for academic purposes, but it's also a school-safety concern when students are not in class. Please help us enforce this by speaking to you child about the importance of being in class on time.

Hello Patriots,

This past week we welcomed our faculty and staff back to school. Tuesday we will welcome our students back to The Fort, as we kick off the 2017-2018 school year!

We had a great week back with our Patriot Faculty. We celebrated our Teacher of the Year, and gave a teacher a hand for doing a great job! We had a luncheon with our custodians, and our counselors passed out sweets to their co-workers. What a great way to start the year by supporting and appreciating each other.

A few friendly reminders for students:
  1. The building opens at 8:30 am on school days.
  2. For the first 10 days of school students will report to Homeroom. Homeroom classes are listed on a students schedule and will be posted throughout the building.
  3. We will be making Student ID's the first few weeks of school, and each student is expected to have a school issued ID in their possession at all times. This is a safety issue and we need your help in making FDHS a safe campus for our students and faculty.
  4. Books will be issued to students after student ID's are issued.
  5. If you drive to school, you must have a parking decal; again this is a security issue, and we have to know that every car on our campus belongs on our campus at all times. Parking passes will be issued the first week of school to those who purchased a decal. Cars illegally parked will be fined and could be towed at the owners expense.
  6. All students must be registered and present on the first day of school, or they will be dropped from FHDS and will not have a schedule on the first day of school.
Congratulations to Coach Laprad and our Football team on a big win this past Friday night 35-14 against Dorman to open the season.

Hello Patriots,

Don't forget fact and fees starts tomorrow, and will last through Wednesday 7am-1pm and 3pm-7pm both days. If you have completed the online registration for your Patriot, you do not need to come to registration. It is still not to late to use the online registration portal, or if you prefer, you can come to the school in person tomorrow or Wednesday to register. Every student that attends Dorchester County School District Two must complete the registration process yearly.

We were excited about the turn out to the "Meet and Greet" with the administrative team last week. It was great meeting all of you who attended to meet some new members of the team as well as socialize with some veteran team members.

Even during the summer, The Fort stays busy with student: summer school, Early College classes, athletic teams, and band camps. The Patriots have had a pretty busy summer, and as the start of the school year draws closer, we are looking forward to seeing the return of all our students on August 22nd.
