Hello Patriots! I hope you had a great weekend. Tuesday we would like to invite all parents out for an open forum discussion with the Administrative team at Fort Dorchester High School Next Tuesday February 27th @ 6:30pm in the auditorium. The first part of our meeting will be a question and answer regarding the change in student’s scheduling of classes next year. After our schedule Q&A, we would like to talk with parents about our school safety plan. Safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. We have received many emails from parents and students, but we feel a face to face open forum would be the best way to have meaningful conversations regarding our plans. We value you input and look forward to your views and input as we look for ways to better serve our students and keep them safe.

Hello Patriots! I hope you had a great weekend. We have another busy week at the Fort, so please review the weekly events below. Our Fine Arts department is proud to present Sherk the Musical this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Bring the family out for some great entertainment. Congratulations to the Lady Patriot basketball ball team with another win in the playoffs! Your Lady Patriots will travel to Spring Valley Monday. Also good luck to our Wrestling team this week as they travel to Columbia Tuesday to compete in the State Championship match against Rock Hill. Congratulations to our 5A Lower State individual Qualifiers. State bound! Chandler Amaker (Champion), Joseph Brown (Champion), Jordan Aluyan (Champion), Jacquan Hicks (4th), Drew Parker (Champion), Johnathan Parker (2nd), Dazjon Casto (Champion), Phaizon Myers (Champion), Qumari Jackson (Champion).

The number one priority of all schools in Dorchester School District Two is safety and security of our students and staff.  We accomplish this through security plans and safety procedures that are reviewed regularly and updated when needed. When a tragic event occurs such as the one in Parkland, Florida, it heightens our awareness of the importance of staff and students being familiar with safety procedures in the event of an emergency situation.  We are reminded of the need to always remain vigilant of what is happening in our community and in our buildings.  Local law enforcement and our school resource officer are valuable partners for the overall safety of our campus.  They assist us in reviewing how we respond and prepare for dangerous situations. As we encourage our students and staff to report concerns about safety or potentially dangerous situations, we hope that you will talk with your child about these important issues.  Our goal is to work with our staff, students, and parents in maintaining a safe school environment

Dorchester School District Two is working to prevent the spread of influenza as well as other respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses. Here are our top tips for prevention:

·         Get the flu vaccine
·         WASH YOUR HANDS – frequently and for at least 20 seconds
·         Get plenty of rest
·         Exercise
·         Eat nutritious foods
·         Drink plenty of water
·         Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth

Flu is spread primarily by droplets when a person with the virus sneezes or coughs. Symptoms of flu include sudden onset of fever 100 degrees or greater, cough, headache, muscle aches, extreme tiredness, sore throat, and nasal congestion. If your child has these symptoms, please keep him/her home from school. Your student should not return to school until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. We encourage parents to visit the DHEC website at http://www.scdhec.gov/flu/  and CDC website https://www.cdc.gov/flu/index.htm  for excellent information on exclusion criteria and when you should contact your health care provider.
